Canadian Comfort and Remembrance Project

Canada’s commitment to the war in Afghanistan has been costly in terms of our losses of military personnel. Addie’s is asking you and your friends to join us in making a quilt to be donated to families of our fallen soldiers or to injured members of our military. Fabrics for the quilt will be supplied by Addie’s and instruction time for completing the different blocks will be donated by Betty. Please register with us before Sept. 29 to enable us to get the supplies together. Thank you.

Oct. 2, 9, 16 & 23 – Tues. 6:30-9:30

Block Swappers Club – 1st Saturday

Included with your club fee:

* Instructions for the swap, yardage, pattern and construction tips.

* Two plastic zipper bags.

* Set of six bag tags. Place one in each bag you drop off to keep you (and us) organized!

* Suggestions for quilt layouts, books and patterns you could use to make your quilts. When we see great ideas we will pass them on.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up at Addie’s and pay $5.00 for the six-month swap.
  2. Follow the block pattern to make multiple blocks each month. Please use quilt-shop-quality fabric and take care to keep your seam allowance and cutting consistent. At the end of the swap you will have enough blocks for a very scrappy quilt.
  3. Place your blocks in a plastic zipper bag with your swap label and bring them in to the store by the first of each month.
  4. Anytime after the 10th of each month, you can stop back in and pick up your new swapped blocks.
  5. On the first Saturday of each month our classroom will be available for you to set up your sewing machines and sew your blocks.
